Customize email templates

Admins can edit SmartRecruiters default email templates or create additional templates. Like default templates, each custom template must have one of the four template types so that the hiring team can find and use the templates in the candidate's profile.

Edit existing template

To edit an existing template:

  1. Navigate to the Settings / Admin page and click Email Templates in the Templates list.
  2. Find the template in the list, and click the Edit icon. 

  3. Make edits to the template's name or type as you like. Keep in mind that the type determines where your hiring team can find it. If you change the type, it'll be available on a different tab on the candidate profile.

  4. Make edits to the subject or message body.  There's a rich-text editor, so you can style the text. Embedded links are supported, but images are not.

  5. You can add Merge fields to both the title and message body to customize the template to include information about the candidate, job, or your company.

  6. When you're done, just click Save.

Create new template

To create a new email template:

  1. Navigate to Settings / Admin.
  2. Click Email Templates in the Templates list.
  3. Click Add template.

  4. Give the template a descriptive title, and choose one of the four types. Remember that the type determines where and when your hiring team can use it.

  5. Add a subject and message body. There's a rich-text editor, so you can style the text. Embedded links are supported, but images are not.

  7. When you're all done, click Save.
