Changing job status

Included in:
  • SmartStart
  • SmartRecruit

SmartRecruiters will automatically update a job's status when someone moves a candidate to a new stage of the hiring process, or takes an action on the job that would change the status.

Automatically update status

In most cases, you simply need to take action on candidates, such as inviting them to interviews, extending offers, and so on. SmartRecruiters will automatically update the job's status within the approval workflow to match the latest stage reached by any candidate.

For example, if you have five candidates, and:

  • one of them is moved to the Interview stage, the status changes to Interview. Even if you reject all current candidates, the job will remain in Interview until another candidate advances to the next stage, which is Offer.
  • one of them is moved to the Offer stage, the job's status changes to Offer status. If the candidate declines the offer, the job will remain in Offer stage.

Manually change status

You can also manually change the status from the job's page:

Cancel job

To cancel the job, just select Cancel Job from the More menu on the job's profile:

or on the Jobs list:

It's best to choose Cancel Job from the More list instead of manually changing the job's status to Cancelled. If you simply change the status, SmartRecruiters will not unpublish the job. It will still show up in Internal Mobility and the Referrals portal.
