There are two ways to increase the number of referrals from your employees:
- When you create (or edit) the job ad in the Job Posting wizard, ask your co-workers and contacts for referrals via email or social network.
- Invite all your employees to create a SmartRecruiters account.
Ask for referrals
Asking for referrals will drive adoption of your referral program and result in quality candidates. In step 5 of the job creation process, Ask for referrals, you can share the job via email and ask anyone (even if they're not employees in your SmartRecruiters account!) if they can recommend good candidates.
Use this method sparingly, for important or difficult-to-fill positions. If you ask for referrals for every position, employees may dismiss your requests as spam.
Emails will contain links to the My Referrals portal, which is your organization’s single place to manage your employee referral program. When your referees log in to the My Referrals portal and connect their social media sites, they'll be able to:
- See recommendations from SmartRecruiters for people they can refer based on keywords in their contacts’ profile.
- Message potential referrals or ask if they know someone in their network that would be a good fit.
Many employees will never need to post jobs or be on a hiring team, but they can still help you reach your hiring goals by submitting referrals. If you have a Corporate plan, you can simply invite them to SmartRecruiters and give them an employee user type.
Employee users do not have access to jobs or candidates, but can apply to job posts on your Internal Mobility portal, and submit referrals through the My Referrals portal.
If you don't use SSO for managing users, consider turning on Domain-based Authentication. When someone at your company signs up for SmartRecruiters with an email address in your company's domain, they'll be added to your account.
