Proximity filter

  • SmartStart
  • SmartRecruit

The Proximity Search filter lets you filter for the candidates that are closest to a particular location, such as a company office. Screen Shot 2017-01-28 at 2.04.32 PM.png
To use it, enter a zip code or city into the filter’s search field, and then select a radius:

  • 10 miles (15 km)
  • 25 miles (40 km)
  • 35 miles (55 km)
  • 50 miles (80 km) (Default)
  • 100 miles (160 km)
  • 200 mi (320km)

SmartRecruiters will filter out candidates who are located outside of this radius, and show all candidates who are located within this radius. The list of candidates within the radius are sorted by proximity, with the closest candidate at the top, and the furthest candidates at the bottom.

Proximity search relies on the latitude and longitude information attached to a candidate’s application. Candidates without latitude/longitude information will be excluded from the filtered results.

SmartRecruiters gets this information from Google’s geolocation services. When the candidate enters their location into their application, they’re prompted to select a match from a list returned by Google. Candidates can complete their application without selecting and confirming their location. If so, SmartRecruiters won’t know their location’s latitude and longitude, and they’ll be excluded from the results of the Proximity Search filter.
