Locale preferences

SmartRecruiters has two settings for customizing the user experience around your location:

  • Language
  • Time Zone


To change your language:

  1. Navigate to Settings / Admin.
  2. Click Locale Preference in the My Account list.
  3. Select a language from the list. LocalePreferences.png

    Supported languages

    SmartRecruiters' user interface is available in English and 33 other languages:

    Your actual list of available languages (in Locale Preferences) will depend on your company's Edition, and whether your company has purchased one or more languages.  In the case for our mobile apps, the language is determined by the language settings on your phone (if the language is available).

  4. Click Save Changes

SmartRecruiters will reload and display all text in your chosen language.

Time Zone

SmartRecruiters uses your Time Zone & Language settings:

  • By default, Interview Scheduler events are displayed in your computer’s current time zone (Mac and Windows 10 date & time settings). However, you can change the Time Zone within the scheduler and set individual events to use a different time zone.

  • Time zones are displayed in SmartRecruiters as abbreviations (GMT +/-, CEST +/-).  These abbreviations are calculated based on your language preference (Mac and Windows 10 language settings). For example, If the Polish language is selected as your default language during the summer month, the sorted time zone list will display as CEST (Central European Summer Time).  On the other hand, if the English language is selected, your Time Zone will display as GMT +2.
  • Scheduled interview emails sent to a candidate are always calculated using English locale abbreviations (GMT +/-). This is because Time Zone abbreviations are not unique. For example, abbreviation CST can mean either China Standard Time or Cuba Standard Time, therefore SmartRecruiters use English as the "default" as we're not able to determine candidates' actual locale at this time.
  • Abbreviations displayed in the body of the email and in iCal may differ because the one displayed in body was calculated in SmartRecruiters using English locale and the one displayed in iCal "Subject" and "When" is calculated "on the go" by Apple (UTC) and Gmail (CUT) respectively using user's browser or device locale settings.
  • Reminders for scheduled interviews are sent on the same day at about 12:30 AM using your Time Zone settings.

To set your Time Zone

  1. Navigate to Settings / Admin.
  2. Click Locale Preference in the My Account list.
  3. Choose the timezone from the list.TimeZone.png
